In 2003, Agustín began his studies in Systems Engineering at Universidad ORT Uruguay. In 2005, he began working at Ernst & Young Uruguay.
He then went on to work at Technolab Uruguay. He is currently the Sales Manager at DVelop Software Solutions and teaches Programming 1 and 2 at Universidad ORT Uruguay.
In 2003, Agustín decided to study Systems Engineering. “I chose Universidad ORT Uruguay on the excellent recommendations I received from friends and family.”
He developed an interest in computer science at an early age. “In the 1990s, when I was in high school, I watched technology evolve. After graduating from high school, I decided to pursue a degree that would bring me closer to those advancements and allow me to participate in them.”
He believes he received a solid academic education at the university. “The program was very good in many ways. We had everything we needed in terms of facilities, labs, and the library.”
In addition, the group of faculty members noted: “Our classes were taught by professors who, in their professional lives, held positions of great responsibility at major companies in the country, which allowed us to gain—in addition to the curricular focus of each subject—a global perspective on the market and insight into the projects being carried out.”
Agustín believes that one of the advantages the university offers is the opportunity to attend classes with small class sizes. “I attended classes with a small group of classmates who eventually became close friends with whom I maintain a relationship that goes beyond the strictly professional.”
He also cherishes many memories from his years of study. “I’ll never forget the classes, the professors’ willingness to help you both inside and outside the classroom, the long days in the labs working on endless assignments for different courses, the dances, and even the soccer tournaments.”
In 2005, he began working at Ernst & Young Uruguay, where he provided support to the Audit Department and conducted audits of the systems of both domestic and international companies.
He then worked at Technolab Uruguay in the Business Intelligence division, and later at Top Systems in the Microfinance Software Development department.
He is currently the Sales Manager at DVelop Software Solutions. “It’s a startup we’ve launched with a group of graduates from our school with the goal of providing software development and consulting services focused on Microsoft and GeneXus technologies.”
He also teaches Programming 1 and 2 in the Programming Department for the Systems Engineering and Bachelor of Systems Science programs.
Agustín hopes to apply soon for the MBA program offered by the School of Business and Social Sciences. He also aims to establish DVelop as a specialized local technology provider and expand into various regional markets where the company can offer a significant competitive advantage.
He believes that the university provided him with the knowledge and tools to become an entrepreneur. “The university was important academically and played a fundamental role in awakening and fostering an entrepreneurial spirit through various academic programs, the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), and the Ingenio business incubator.”
Agustín believes he owes his early success to the university, where he found the support and knowledge he needed to turn an idea into a business.
