March 31, 2004
As part of an agreement between ORT and LACNIC, two faculty members from the School of Engineering led an academic project involving both institutions.

LACNIC is the organization responsible for the registration of Internet addresses in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Engineers Álvaro García and Álvaro Sánchez, faculty members at ORT’s School of Engineering and employees of Antel Data, led the project “Analysis of Legacy Space Fragmentation.”

Also participating in the project were ORT telecommunications engineering graduates Ramiro Salaberry and Pablo Hernandorena, as well as senior student Juan Agustín Tricánico.

The results of the Legacy Space Fragmentation Analysis project were presented at the international LACNIC VI event, which took place in Montevideo from March 29 to April 1, 2004, at the Radisson Hotel.
