On September 18, 2003, the School of Communication and Design launched these two new degree programs.

The curricula are designed to prepare individuals capable of bringing genuine added value to design processes, providing a competitive edge when creating projects, offering solutions, and developing industrial products.
At the launch event, the president of the Science, Technology, and Quality Commission of the Uruguayan Chamber of Industries, Hugo Donner, highlighted that:
