Employment Month 2026 will take place in October over the course of three days:
- Business & Architecture, October 15;
- Engineering, October 22; and
- Communication & Design, October 29.
The event will provide an opportunity to speak face-to-face with representatives from organizations in various sectors, learn about the types of candidates they are looking for, and discover projects and areas of work that could open up new career paths.
A conversation can open a door
Employment Month offers something that goes beyond simply searching for job openings: it provides an opportunity to establish a personal connection with those who work at organizations and are involved in their talent recruitment processes.
At the booths, students and graduates will be able to learn firsthand about what companies have to offer, understand what they look for when hiring new candidates, and introduce themselves to organizations where they would like to build their careers.

Sabrina Bianchi, M.A., director of the Central Graduate Services Office at the Universidad ORT Uruguay, highlighted the value of this event when assessing the 2025 edition. As she explained, participants gain“an experience as well as valuable contacts,”because talking with the right people within companies can facilitate future professional opportunities.
Bianchi also pointed out a common challenge for those just starting to build their careers: finding the courage to take that first step when they don’t yet have any experience. His recommendation was to reach out, introduce themselves, and explain “what their value is, what sets them apart, and what they have to offer.”

More Than Just a Trade Show
Employment Month also offers tools to help you prepare before taking the next step in your career.
In addition to the booths, the program includes workshops and activities related to employability and professional development. At the previous event, there were sessions on LinkedIn and personal branding, opportunities to have a professional photo taken, and activities focused on job interviews.

These sessions complement the meetings with companies and provide an opportunity to work on key aspects of the job search process: how to introduce yourself, how to highlight what sets you apart, and how to handle a professional opportunity.
Companies to Get to Know Up Close
The 2026 event will bring together renowned companies and organizations from various sectors. Participants will include Santander, PwC, KPMG, Deloitte, BDO Uruguay, Conaprole, FNC, BBVA, SONDA, Claro, Tata Consultancy Services, PedidosYa, Montevideo Shopping, and Hospital Británico, among many others.
Organizations and companies related to specific areas covered in the various sessions will also participate, including Gómez Platero, the Uruguayan Chamber of Design, IAB Uruguay, the Uruguayan Advertising Circle, Agencia Cosmos, Radio Sarandí, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Association of Certified Public Accountants, Ciemsa, Urudata Software, Light-it, and Space Uruguay.

The diversity of participants will allow students and graduates to explore sectors such as technology, financial services, construction, consumer goods, logistics, communications, design, and advertising; learn about potential career paths; and speak directly with representatives from these organizations.
An Introduction to the Working World
Employment Month 2026 was declared a matter of public interest by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. The declaration recognizes a proposal that seeks to connect companies and institutions with students and graduates of ORT programs.
The initiative is also linked to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, one of the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 to address global challenges by 2030. This link is based on the initiative’s focus on employability, labor market integration, and the connection between university education and the labor market.
For those looking for their first experience, considering a career change, or wanting to start building connections with organizations in their area, the three-day event offers a space to meet others, talk, and make themselves known.
