The appointment was officially announced by the AIC Executive Committee, which reported on the composition of the Commission’s new Board of Directors for the 2025–2027 term. Dr. Pontet has been appointed vice president of the Inter-American Technical Commission on Accounting Research, joining the team alongside President Elsa Choy Zevallos and Secretary Ticiane Lima Dos Santos.
According to the official statement, the decision is based on the professional track record of the appointed officials and their dedication to serving the accounting profession in the Americas.
From 2020 to 2026, Dr. Pontet served as president.
The Inter-American Technical Commission on Accounting Research aims to promote the development and strengthening of accounting research in the Americas, in line with the AIC’s Institutional Strategic Plan and with the goal of raising the technical and ethical standards of the profession in the region.
Dr. Pontet’s participation in this international event serves as recognition of her academic and professional achievements, as well as a significant contribution to the Business School’s regional standing.
Dr. Norma Pontet serves as academic coordinator of the Business School within the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences at Universidad ORT Uruguay. has Ph.D. in Accounting and has Master’s has in Finance and Management Control from the University of Valencia, as well as a Master’s degree in Port Management and Intermodal Transport from Comillas Pontifical University.
