"Nodo" is the new podcast from the Bachelor's Program in International Studies at Universidad ORT Uruguay, an academic initiative that aims to bridge the gap between faculty expertise, industry experience, and student concerns. Through monthly episodes, the podcast offers a contemporary, local, and educational perspective.
The initiative is led by Professor Mariana Correa, a member of the International Trade Department, who emphasizes the value of integrating this tool into university life:
“It is a space for continuous learning where the university connects with the real world.”
He explained that it serves as a bridge between theory and practice, designed to train professionals capable of interpreting current events, identifying opportunities, and positioning themselves on the global stage—a stage that Uruguay needs to understand and capitalize on.
A podcast created with and for students
One of the most valuable aspects of the project is the active participation of students in the production process.
From crafting questions to conducting interviews, students take turns in each episode, allowing them to develop communication and analytical skills in a real-world setting.
Rotation also fosters diversity and encourages them to test their skills in an environment outside the classroom.

Episode 1: The Current State and Future Outlook of Foreign Trade
The first episode is now available on Spotify. It explores current trends in foreign trade through the lens of a leading expert: economist Carmen Porteiro, president of the Uruguayan Exporters' Association.
The discussion focuses on the challenges, opportunities, and trends in the sector, taking a local perspective while keeping an eye on the international landscape. “We believe it is essential to understand the current reality, the key players, and the current situation in order to move forward,” Correa said.
What's Next: Transportation, Digitalization, Free Trade Zones, and More
Nodo will be published monthly during the second half of the year. The first season will cover topics such as transportation, free trade zones, digitalization, international integration, and other issues shaped by current events, always from a practical perspective connected to the professional world.
Each episode will aim to raise new questions, encourage reflection, and, above all, strengthen the connection between the academic world and the world of work.
“As educators, we aim to provide a tool that goes beyond the classroom.”
The podcast serves not only as a learning platform, but also as an academic resource, supplementary material for assignments and classes, and a tool for outreach.
