Universidad ORT Uruguay the Uruguayan Chamber of Tourism (CAMTUR) signed a Framework Agreement on Institutional Understanding with the aim of promoting collaborative initiatives that contribute to strengthening the Uruguayan tourism sector through training, research, knowledge generation, and partnerships between academia and industry stakeholders.
The agreement is based on the recognition that tourism is undergoing a process of transformation driven by technological changes, new market dynamics, and challenges related to sustainability and competitiveness. In this context, both institutions consider it essential to promote opportunities for cooperation that foster talent development, professional development the building of strategic capabilities for the country.
As part of this partnership, plans are in place to develop programmes , certifications, seminars, and other training activities aimed at entrepreneurs, managers, and professionals in the sector. The agreement also provides for research and studies on trends, competitiveness, innovation, and technology applied to tourism, as well as initiatives related to strengthening tourist destinations, digital transformation, and smart tourism.
The collaboration framework will also promote initiatives aimed at job placement and talent development through internships, programmes , mentoring, technical visits, and activities that foster connections among students, graduates, and companies. In addition, both institutions will be able to organize forums, exchange opportunities, networking events, innovation labs, and joint projects with national and international organizations.
The agreement was signed on June 30 at Universidad ORT Uruguay Fernando Tapia, president of CAMTUR; Mariella de Aurrecoechea, dean of the School of Administration and Social Sciences at Universidad ORT Uruguay; Flavia Lavecchia, secretary general of CAMTUR; Sebastián Freire, Vice President of Destinations at CAMTUR; and Pablo Pesce, academic coordinator ofthe Technical Program in Tourism and Hotel Management at Universidad ORT Uruguay of Universidad ORT Uruguay.
