Professor René Fuentes was born in Bayamo, Cuba, in 1969. His books *Los gallinazos* and *La bufanda*, published in Cuba, won the Abril Prize in 1994.
In Uruguay, he published *The Traps of Paradise*, *The Long Way Around*, and *A Dark Meadow Passes By*.
He currently teaches Expressive Writing, Creative Writing, and Media Writing at Universidad ORT Uruguay is a contributor to El País Cultural.
