The academic coordinator was interviewed for an international publication by the Goethe-Institut

The coordinator was consulted, along with 26 experts, for the publication titled*Making Sense of the Metaverse: A Cultural and Educational Perspective*, a technical white paper based on detailed research and verifiable data, used to present studies and support strategies.

The study, authored by Ágnes Karolina Bakk, PhD, together with Sebastian Gschanes, in collaboration with theCenter for Immersion and Interaction at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design(Budapest), focused on analyzing and exploring the metaverse and its future possibilities.

“It’s a growing phenomenon, driven by artificial intelligence, bots, and non-player characters, and it’s becoming an increasingly prominent part of society,” Fabián explained.

About the publication

This study was based on41 qualitative interviewsconducted with professionals and specialists in the cultural and educational sectors from Germany and other parts of the world, and its objective wasto analyze“howtechnological advancementsareperceived”and“used”in the metaversefrom the perspectives of higher education and culture.

In addition, the study sought to identify the “new challenges” that the metaverse may present to users in terms of security, educational design, and cultural programs, as well as to highlight how these experts view the role of institutions in “creating or contributing to the design of these spaces.”

Based on interviews, the study highlighted topics such as accessibility, art, design, mental health, legal issues, power, and education, among others.

The publication stands out as a valuable contribution to the limited body of academic work on the metaverse, offering a global perspective on how these technologies are influencing education and culture.
