Dr. Hoover was a professor of marketing at the College of Business at Idaho State University and at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi.
His career in international business spans four decades as an entrepreneur, researcher, professor, and consultant.
He has been involved in research projects in Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, Uruguay, France, Portugal, Finland, Morocco, New Zealand, and Ireland.
He has been a member of the Academy of International Business, the International Trade and Finance Association, and the Business Association of Latin American Studies.
His research and teaching interests focus on strategic marketing decision-making, specifically on segmentation techniques in the global market.
His research has been published in *The Journal of Marketing*, *The Journal of Global Marketing*, *The Journal of Consumer Research*, *Marketing Education Review*, *The Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science*, and *NAFTA: Law and Business Review of the Americas*, among others.
He served as director of the Project for Internationalization through Resource Integration and International Education, part of the U.S. Department of Education’s Scholarship Program, based at Idaho State University.
In June 2005, he was a Fulbright Fellow at Universidad ORT Uruguay.
Hoover holds a bachelor's degree, an MBA, and a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin.
In addition to Idaho State University, Hoover has taught at the University of Denver, Texas A&I University, Corpus Christi State University, Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, the University of the Americas (San José, Costa Rica), Universidad ORT Uruguay, Universidad CUDEC (Mexico), the University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas A&M International University, and the Helsinki School of Economics.
Hoover is currently executive vice president of the Carolan Research Institute.
