A training experience to become a better leader and build more collaborative teams

The Human Resources Department at Universidad ORT Uruguay, through People, organized a training series for middle managers with staff under their supervision.

The program, titled Programme and Collaborative WorkProgramme ,” took place over four sessions between October and November 2025, with the goal of strengthening personal leadership and teamwork skills.

The series was led by professors Federica Abella and Verónica Abella and brought together participants from various departments at the university. The final session took place on November 21 at the Pocitos Campus, where the morning and afternoon groups came together to work collaboratively.

Four modules

The training began on October 24 with a module on self-awareness and personal leadership. According to the program materials, this first session aimed to introduce leadership concepts, promote self-awareness, and focus on strengths and areas for development.

The second session, held on October 31, focused on communication and trust. The module covered topics related to personal branding, building trust, commitment, and a sense of belonging within work teams.

The third session, held on November 7, focused on teamwork and collaboration. The program aimed to help participants understand what characterizes high-performance teams, identify key factors for their development, and reflect on each participant’s role within a team.

The closing session, held on November 21, focused on conscious leadership and purpose. This stage encouraged participants to reflect on their personal purpose, presence, values, and connection with their peers.

In-house development

People promotes initiatives aimed at enhancing the experience, development, and well-being of the members of Universidad ORT Uruguay. Among its areas of focus is training, with programs designed to develop professional, management, and teamwork skills.

Within this framework, the Programme and Collaborative Work Programme sought to provide practical tools to support team management, strengthen relationships, and promote opportunities for shared learning among individuals with coordination responsibilities.

The proposal is linked to SDG 4: Quality Education, one of the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a global agenda for 2030, due to its focus on lifelong learning and skills development.

It also aligns with SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, as it addresses skills related to collaborative and sustainable work environments.
