The publication lists 807 academic contributions from 2021 to 2025 and highlights developments in doctoral education, scientific journals, and collaboration among researchers.

The " Universidad ORT Uruguay " compiles five years of research in its new report

The 2021–2025 Research and Academic Production Report presents the work of faculty members and researchers affiliated with the Universidad ORT Uruguay during this period. It includes articles, books, chapters, and research papers, along with profiles of those engaged in this activity at the institution.

The report also lists 54 faculty members in the National System of Researchers (SNI) as of December 2025 and describes the link between knowledge production, graduate- programmes , and opportunities for academic exchange.

“The university views research as an activity closely integrated with its educational programmes , especially at the graduate level,” says Dr. Pablo Landoni, vice president for academic affairs.

Production by the Numbers

Over the five-year period, the report lists 807 academic contributions, divided into five categories:

  • 311 articles in peer-reviewed journals
  • 354 articles in peer-reviewed conferences
  • 22 books
  • 76 chapters in books
  • 44 research papers

Peer-reviewed articles undergo academic evaluation processes. Research papers, on the other hand, typically report preliminary results and allow research teams to share their work before it is published in other formats.

Research Projects at the Universidad ORT Uruguay

The data covers the university's five schools, the Institute of Education, and the Department of Jewish Studies. The School of Business and Social Sciences recorded 327 contributions; the School of Engineering, 284; and the Institute of Education, 131.

Rounding out the list are the School of Architecture, with 51 contributions; the School of Communication, with 12; the School of Design, with one; and the Department of Jewish Studies, also with one.

Training of Researchers

In addition to organizing the publications, the report details progress made in improving the conditions for conducting research and training new researchers.

Among these is the university's accreditation of the Doctor of Engineering degree, which complements the Doctor of Education degree and expands the institution's research-oriented doctoral programs.

Dr. Landoni highlights the recruitment of young researchers dedicated specifically to academic work and links this process to the university’s contribution to the country’s scientific, technological, and innovation system.

As of the end of 2025, the 54 faculty members who were part of the SNI were distributed among the following levels: Introduction (18), Level I (24), Level II (7), and Level III (5), with faculty members in the schools of Engineering, Business and Social Sciences, Architecture and Communication, and the Institute of Education.

Open-Access Knowledge

Academic journals are another avenue for disseminating research. The Institute of Architecture and Urbanism ( Universidad ORT Uruguay ) publishes *Anales de Investigación en Arquitectura*, *InMediaciones de la Comunicación*, and *Cuadernos de Investigación Educativa*, all of which offer open access to their content.

In September 2025, *InMediaciones de la Comunicación* was included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index, a collection within the Web of Science academic database.

*The journal *InMediaciones de la Comunicación* has been published annually since 1998 by the ORT School of Communication

For its part, *Anales de Investigación en Arquitectura*, which is indexed in Scopus, has been listed in the SJR classification system since 2025 as a diamond open-access publication. This model allows articles to be published and accessed without authors or readers having to pay.

*Cuadernos de Investigación Educativa* publishes articles on topics such as teacher education, education policy, innovation, assessment, and educational administration, from various theoretical and methodological perspectives.

Exchange and Collaboration

The report also highlights the continuation of the Researchers' Meetings, organized with the support of the Department of Human Resources, an initiative aimed at developing the university's human talent.

These events bring together researchers and members of the National Research System (SNI) to share experiences, learn about support resources, and promote collaborative projects among different academic units.

The complete document provides access to researchers’ profiles, journal characteristics, and bibliographic references for the works, organized by academic unit and type of output. It thus offers an overview of the knowledge generated and published at the University of the Andes ( Universidad ORT Uruguay ) during the 2021–2025 period.
