New ORT Research Professor Added to the National System of Researchers

Architect Andrea Castro Marcucci, PhD candidate, a faculty researcher and academic coordinator of the Architecture program at ORT, has been admitted to the National System of Researchers (SNI) in the “Initiation” category for a three-year term in the field of Humanities.
New ORT Research Professor Added to the National System of Researchers

This award recognizes Architect Castro Marcucci’s academic achievements and her commitment to research and the advancement of studies in architecture and the humanities, through which she has made significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge in her field.

Castro is a PhD candidate in Materials, Structures, and Geotechnical Engineering, specializing in Sustainable Architecture and Urban Planning, from the University of Alicante (Spain); he holds a Master’s degree in Laboratory for 21st-Century Housing from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Spain); and a Master’s degree in Integrated Architecture Projects from Ramón Llull La Salle University (Spain). 

Castro, who holds a degree in architecture from the University of Zulia (Venezuela), is the academic coordinator of the Architecture program at Universidad ORT Uruguay; editor-in-chief of Anales de Investigación en Arquitectura, the scientific journal of the ORT School of Architecture (Q3 in SCImago and indexed in the ESCI of Web of Science); and instructor of the courses The Construction of the Modern World, Critical Analysis of Contemporary Architecture, Contemporary Architectural Reflections, and History and Trends in Interior Design 3.

His appointment to the SNI reinforces the role of ORT’s School of Architecture in researching and promoting Uruguay’s architectural heritage and the history of architecture.
