
Participants included Eduardo Hipogrosso, Vice President for Institutional Management and Development at Universidad ORT Uruguay, and Dr. Carlos Bazzano, Director of the Institute of Dermatology and Academic Coordinator of the graduate program, along with faculty members and the 14 physicians admitted to this cohort.
Institutional Welcome
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Hipogrosso highlighted the strategic value of adding a program of this kind: “We are very happy to launch a health program with a graduate course of this nature. We are very proud of our distinguished faculty.”
In this context, he added that the goal is to ensure training standards comparable to those of the leading institutions “and to develop the highest-quality graduate program we can offer at the regional level.”

Comprehensive training
Dr. Bazzano emphasized the importance of approaching dermatology from a broad perspective that takes into account various clinical conditions and care settings: “We believe it is very important for you to see the full spectrum of dermatological conditions,” he said.

He also emphasized the interpersonal skills involved in medical practice: “Among the things you need to learn—in addition to the technical aspects of dermatology itself—you need to learn how to interact with people: empathy, and even understanding the language you’ll be using to communicate with them.”
With the launch of this graduate program, Universidad ORT Uruguay the Institute of Dermatology’s role as a center for teaching and graduate education, and expanding its academic offerings in the health field with a program focused on scientific, clinical, and medical-surgical updates, integrating technical expertise with professional skills centered on patient care.
