ORT promotes opportunities for reflection on coexistence and respect

The Workshop on Coexistence and Awareness was held on April 22 at the Pocitos Campus and was aimed at university staff.

The event was led by Dr. Natalia Prieto and organized as part of the training initiatives promoted by People, the human resources department at Universidad ORT Uruguay.

The event aimed to create a space for reflection on issues that affect work and educational environments, with a focus on identifying stereotypes, preventing sexual harassment, and addressing gender-based violence.

Institutional Commitment

The workshop is part of an institutional initiative aimed at strengthening harmony, respect, and care within the university community.

People promotes initiatives related to the experience, development, and well-being of the institution's employees.

In this context, the training provided an opportunity to address sensitive issues that require information, shared standards, and opportunities for dialogue within educational organizations.

Framework for Action

This initiative is also linked to Universidad ORT Uruguay 2024–2026 Gender Equity and Non-Discrimination Plan.

The document outlines awareness-raising and training initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of equality based on respect for the diversity of the members of the university community.

In addition, the plan states that the institution seeks to leverage synergies with the People project to promote integration across sectors and develop cross-cutting training activities.

Prevention and Care

The workshop is also aligned with Universidad ORT Uruguay Policy and Protocol on Sexual and Workplace Harassment, Educational and Workplace Violence, and Discrimination.

That document states that the institution strives to ensure a safe, healthy, and violence-free environment for study and work.

It also points out that preventing such behavior requires the cooperation of everyone in the institution.

Safe Coexistence

The topics addressed in the event align with Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality, one of the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as part of a global agenda to address social, economic, and environmental challenges by 2030.

They are also linked to Sustainable Development Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, due to their connection to the promotion of safe, respectful, and violence-free work environments.

Through this initiative, Universidad ORT Uruguay its internal awareness-raising efforts and its commitment to creating work and educational environments based on respect, prevention, and institutional responsibility.
