What Sets Us Apart

Educational Philosophy

Universidad ORT Uruguay out for its emphasis on quality and high standards in teaching.

The pedagogical approach aims to achieve deep and lasting learning, which is the basis for intellectual development, successful professional performance, and the ability to continue learning independently.

Active and personalized education

We view education as a creative process in which students undertake specific projects and experiment with cutting-edge technology from the very start of their studies.

Working both individually and in teams, students research and develop original projects throughout their academic careers. This motivating and experiential approach fosters a deep commitment to their studies and a constant drive to excel.

Small class sizes allow our teachers to get to know each of their students personally and provide individualized instruction. The open communication between teachers and students defines the academic environment at ORT, where teachers and teaching assistants are available both inside and outside the classroom to talk with their students.

Our educational online platform allows students to access a vast array of educational materials, references, case studies, and exercises that are constantly updated, and to communicate electronically with their instructors, enabling them to engage in more in-depth discussions and ask questions about the material covered in class.

High standards and dedication

Our degree programs require a high level of dedication and academic performance. Classroom hours are supplemented by significant time spent on laboratory work, independent study, literature reviews, and fieldwork.

ORT is the only university in Uruguay that requires a minimum grade point average for graduation. The cumulative grade point average helps identify students with exceptional academic performance and is used internationally for admission to graduate programs and in the hiring process.

Theses are evaluated and graded according to rigorous standards that encompass not only technical content but also strict adherence to deadlines, textual and graphic presentation, and compliance with the ethical standards most widely accepted in the academic world. In some degree programs, theses are evaluated by external international panels.
