Among the new features of this edition, the Carolina Foundation has included in its call for applications the research fellowship program of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), which offers 20 fellowships: 10 for conducting research at CSIC research centers, and another 10 for research centers and universities in Latin America.
Types of Scholarships Offered by the Carolina Foundation
- Graduate Scholarships. These scholarships are intended for graduates from member countries of the Ibero-American Community of Nations who demonstrate academic or professional ability, as evidenced by an outstanding academic record and a history of social engagement. The program offers two types of support: scholarships and study grants, and includes official master’s degrees, university-specific degrees, and specialization courses.
- Ph.D. scholarships and short-term postdoctoral fellowships. These programs aim to help faculty members and researchers from Latin American universities earn a Ph.D. at Spanish institutions, thereby fostering the creation of scientific networks between institutions on both sides of the Atlantic.
- Faculty exchange programs. These programs enable faculty members and researchers from universities in Argentina, Brazil, and the Tordesillas Group of universities to spend a short period of time in Spain conducting research.
- Scholarship Programs and Institutional Studies. These grants are intended to fund training programs at Spanish institutions (or Latin American institutions, in the case of the new program with the CSIC) aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of Latin American public administrations.
Application deadlines and procedures
The application period for graduate scholarships and institutional study programs will run from January 11 to March 14, 2024, with the exception of the Complutense Summer School program, for which the deadline is February 21. For doctoral scholarships, short-term stays, and mobility grants, the application period will open on January 11 and close on April 4.
