Presentation of the "IDB's 2008 Economic and Social Progress Report"

On April 29, the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences hosted a conference titled "Social Exclusion in Latin America: An Assessment of an Urgent Problem." The event was organized by the faculty’s Department of Economics and CERES (Center for the Study of Economic and Social Reality).

The opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Ernesto Talvi, Executive Director of CERES. Dr. Gustavo Márquez, Senior Advisor in the IDB’s Research Department, presented the “Inter-American Development Bank’s 2008 Economic and Social Progress Report (ESPR): ‘The Outsiders?’ Changing Patterns of Exclusion in Latin America and the Caribbean.” Dr. Néstor Gandelman, Academic Coordinator of Economics, spoke on “Uruguay in the 2008 IPES.” There was a panel discussion on the 2008 IPES featuring Gustavo Leal of El Abrojo, the Montevideo Observatory on Social Exclusion, and Juan José Calvo of the United Nations Population Fund, moderated by Dr. Gaston Labadie, Dean of the School of Management and Social Sciences.
