Conference: "Agriculture and the Doha Round: What Are the Prospects for Our Continent?"

On October 29, the lecture "Agriculture and the Doha Round: What Are the Prospects for Our Continent?" was held in the Auditorium of the School of Business and Social Sciences. The lecture was presented by Chantal Blouin, a professor at the Centre for Trade Law and Policy at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. The event was organized by the Department of International Studies and the Canadian Embassy. The introduction was given by Isidoro Hodara, Ph.D., Professor of International Trade at the faculty. 

Chantal Blouin holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in political science from Laval University and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Toronto, Canada. She is a Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Trade Policy and Law at Carleton University. She is Editor-in-Chief of the journal *Canadian Foreign Policy* and a lecturer in international social policy. She has served as Principal Researcher at the North-South Institute in Ottawa, as a professor in the Department of Political Science at Carleton University, and as a fellow to U.S. Representative David Minge on issues related to policy analysis and legislation regarding telecommunications, broadcasting, technology, and antitrust policy. She also serves as a member of the World Health Organization’s External Resource Groups, as a member of the Board of Directors of Equiterre, and as a member of the Selection Committee of the Trudeau Foundation.

The speaker presented on agriculture in trade and the Uruguayan and Canadian perspectives regarding international negotiations within the framework of Canada’s foreign policy and its priorities regarding the Americas.
