Conference on "Human Capital Management and New Technologies"

December 3, 2008
On December 10, the lecture "Human Capital Management and New Technologies" was held in the auditorium of the School of Administration and Social Sciences. The speaker was Hermes Ruiz Rincón, Director General of the international consulting firm JP VAL, based in Spain.

We have heard a great deal about the opportunities offered by so-called new technologies—their efficiency, their contribution to productivity, and their ease of access. But how can they contribute to human capital management? When working with people, we believe it is difficult to replace personal contact in favor of relying more heavily on new technologies. While we have methodological tools that allow us to carry out our work, we believe that personal contact, as a tool for human resource management, must necessarily be present. However, both social and technological changes are telling us that the world is increasingly moving toward the use of new technologies to optimize our skills. Work in the field of human resources is no exception to this reality.

A group of professionals from various disciplines, with specialization and experience in this area, has researched and implemented a set of online tools that allow for optimizing time, achieving higher levels of efficiency, and reducing costs in the development of professional human resources management.

Mr. Ruiz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and an MBA and is an expert in technological solutions applied to the world of Human Resources. He has participated in various projects in Spain, Mexico, Colombia, and Ecuador, among others, where he has implemented solutions for recruitment, assessment, e-learning, feedback, workplace culture, and online competency management. He has worked in Spain as Head of Marketing and Sales at Actual Soluciones, Business Development at Suani, and Business Consultant at Doxa Consultoría y Sistemas. In Colombia, he has served as General Manager of HAR Service and Assessorship Company, Administrative Manager at SEING, and as a Professor of Macroeconomics at the University of Santiago de Cali.
