"Kafka Readings" Lecture Series

As part of the "Kafka Readings" series led by Gustavo Perednik, the lecture "Between Sisyphus and Schopenhauer: The Castle" took place on August 17, followed by "The Incomplete as a Paradigm: Amerika" on August 18. The lectures, organized by the Department of Jewish Studies, take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Pocitos Auditorium (2633 España Blvd.).

Perednik is a graduate of the University of Buenos Aires and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (cum laude), and completed his PhD in Philosophy at New York University. He studied the humanities at the Sorbonne (France), San Marcos (Peru), and Uppsala (Sweden). He was honored as an outstanding professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he lectured in several languages. He was invited to give lectures at dozens of American, Spanish, and Chinese universities. He has written more than a dozen books, many of which have won international literary awards, and has published over a thousand articles on Judaism and modernity. Among his published works, we highlight the trilogy “Great Thinkers: Jews in Western Civilization” (2005), “Notable Thinkers: Jews in Western Civilization” (2006), and “Famous Thinkers: Jews in Western Civilization” (2007), published by Universidad ORT Uruguay, and “Violin in Hand: Historical Crossroads of the Jewish People” (2009), also published byUniversidad ORT Uruguay.
