The Salão Design is one of the most important product design awards in the world and the largest in Latin America. There are 23 winning projects, selected in the student, corporate, and industrial categories from among a thousand entries from 14 countries. It is organized by the Bento Gonçalves Furniture Industry Association (Sindmóveis).
The finalists were evaluated from March 23 to 25 by leading figures in international design, including Italian-Argentine Paolo Bergomi, president of the Latin American Design Association (Aladi); Guto Índio da Costa, Ademir Bueno, and Bernardo Senna, three Brazilian designers; and Maria Helena Estrada, editor of ARC Design magazine.
The winners will receive awards and participate in an exhibition at Casa Brasil 2009, a furniture and design fair to be held in Bento Gonçalves (Rio Grande do Sul) from August 4 to 8.
