Dr. Sorj studied the history of Israel at the University of Haifa and holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Manchester. He has served as a visiting professor at universities in Europe and the United States, holding the Sérgio Buarque de Holanda Chair at the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme and the Simón Bolívar Chair at IHEAL in Paris. He is the author of 23 books in various languages, including "The Latin American Challenge" (with Danilo Martuccelli, Siglo XXI, 2008), "The Unexpected Democracy" (Prometo/Bonagno, 2004), and “Judaism for the 21st Century” (with Nilton Bonder, Ediciones Lilmod, 2001).
