Exhibition and lectures on the physicist Albert Einstein

August 2, 2010
From August 2 to 13, the School of Engineering organized an exhibition on the life and work of physicist Albert Einstein, which took place in the central hall of ORT Centro.  As part of this event, lectures aimed at high school students and the general public on his major theories were held from Monday, August 9, through Thursday, August 12, in the morning and afternoon. Attendees also had access to videos and interactive applets on the theory of relativity and Einstein’s other contributions.

The exhibition featured 26 panels exploring both the scientific and personal aspects of his life: replicas of scientific documents, academic writings, his Nobel Prize diploma, and letters to colleagues, family, and friends. The originals were donated by Einstein to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, which he founded in 1925. The Hebrew University produced these replicas, which are now on display around the world.

The lectures, coordinated by Dr. Efrain Buksman, Associate Professor of Physics, cover his major scientific achievements, including the explanation of the photoelectric effect and Brownian motion (the existence of the atom), the special theory of relativity (1905), the equivalence principle, and the general theory of relativity. They are presented by Dr. Buksman, Martín Monteiro, Mauricio Rodríguez, and Nancy Sosa.
