Lecture: "Scientific Thinking and Common Sense"

On Tuesday, July 27, the lecture "Scientific Thought and Common Sense" was held at the ORT Pocitos Auditorium, presented by Dr. Oded Balaban, Chair of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Haifa. The event was organized by the Department of International Studies in the School of Management and Social Sciences.

The speaker was born in Buenos Aires and currently resides in Israel. He earned his B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Haifa and a Master’s degree with honors from the Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Humanities at the same university. In 1983, he completed his PhD in Philosophy at Tel Aviv University.

He has a long career as a professor at the University of Haifa, having held positions at every level of the faculty, as well as academic and administrative roles, and has served as Director of the Department of Philosophy at that institution since 2007. He is a member of the International Association for the Study of Controversies and served as a visiting professor at the University of Florida, United States, from 2003 to 2004. He has received an award from the Israel Science Foundation and has been honored on a dozen occasions with the Award for Teaching Excellence from the Technion Institute of Technology in Israel.
