New equipment for solar radiation studies for architectural applications

July 25, 2011
The School of Architecture acquired a device called Solarpathfinder to easily conduct solar radiation studies that can be used for both architectural and solar energy applications. Using digital photos processed with specialized software, the device allows users to analyze the number of hours of sunlight, exact dates, and the angles and heights of sunlight incidence on roofs, facades, and open spaces such as patios and terraces.

With this equipment, students can more easily grasp concepts related to the sun exposure of a house or building, allowing teachers to provide more comprehensive instruction on stereographic projections and other essential drawings for these studies.
