The Chief Technology Officer of the Stanford University School of Education delivered a lecture titled "Mobile Innovation and the Global Education Ecosystem"

On August 8, 2011, the ORT Centro Auditorium hosted the lecture "Mobile Innovation and the Global Education Ecosystem," presented by Dr. Paul Kim, Chief Technology Officer and Associate Dean of the Stanford University School of Education. The event was organized by the Institute of Education in collaboration with Plan Ceibal.

The presentation focused on context-specific innovations designed to increase access to education for those most in need, and to improve learning and assessment through mobile technology models for both formal and informal learning settings.

Dr. Kim presented the progress of his research project titled"Programmable Open Mobile Internet 2020," which has by the National Science Foundation, as well as various mobile training projects he has launched in Africa, the Americas, and Asia.

Dr. Kim holds a Ph.D. in Educational Technology from the University of Southern California. He served as Chairman of the Boardofthe Intercultural Institute of California.He was Chief Information Officer atPhoenix University and Vice President at Vatterott College. He works with numerous international organizations to develop mobile empowerment solutions for marginalized communities in developing countries. As part of his research, he is exploring mobile wireless sensors in a simulation-based ePortfolio learning and assessment system, designed to foster creativity and critical thinking in problem-solving and learning. In the higher education sector, he advises investors and technology companies focused on e-learning, knowledge management, and mobile communication solutions.

The conference was broadcast on the Public Affairs channel of the TCC cable network on Tuesday, August 30, 2011.
