Book Presentation: "Inclusive Business: Market Initiatives with the Poor in Latin America"

August 16, 2011
On August 22, 2011, the book *Inclusive Business: Market Initiatives with the Poor in Latin America* was presented at the ORT Centro Auditorium by its editor, Gabriel Berger.

The event was organized by the university’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, in partnership with the AVINA Foundation and the Ashoka Network.

"Inclusive Business: Market Initiatives with the Poor in Ibero-America" is the result of work carried out by researchers from nine universities in Latin America and Spain, members of SEKN (Social Enterprise Knowledge Network), a network of leading business schools in ten Ibero-American countries dedicated to collective, hemispheric research on social entrepreneurship.

The research examined 33 initiatives developed by multinational corporations, SMEs, and civil society organizations to determine what is needed to build new economic value chains that help people escape poverty. With this book, SEKN seeks to make a real-world impact by identifying the specific challenges faced by the organizations and businesses studied, and by analyzing the strategies chosen to overcome them.

The AVINA Foundation was created to contribute to the sustainable development of Latin America by fostering the building of bonds of trust and fruitful alliances between social and business leaders, and by coordinating consensus-based action agendas. Ashoka is the global organization for social entrepreneurs.
