Fonts created by a teacher have been added to Google Web Fonts

March 2, 2012
The "Económica" and "Chau Philomene One" typefaces, created by Vicente Lamónaca, a professor of typography in the Graphic Design program, were acquired by Google for its library of web fonts. They are the first Uruguayan typefaces to be included on this platform. The fonts are available free of charge for use in web design.

In January, Google also acquired the Gafata typeface by Lautaro Hourcade, a graduate of the Bachelor’s program in Graphic Design; Sedán by Sebastián Salazar, a current student in the program; Fénix by Fernando Díaz, a graduate of the program; and Rufina, Clarina, and Rambla by Martín Sommaruga, a graduate of the program. These typefaces will soon be included in Google Web Fonts.

A typeface is a set of letters, numbers, and symbols with a certain stylistic unity, forming a coherent group.
