May 9, 2012
On May 24, 2012, the “Reciclá – Redesigning Vintage Clothing” redesign exhibition was presented at the headquarters of the Israeli Community of Uruguay. This exhibition showcased the work created by students in the Bachelor of Fashion Design program during the academic activity “Integrative Project – ReCreación 12” for Meilí, a community clothing bank run by volunteers who work with more than 300 families and distribute donations to soup kitchens, schools, NGOs, and people in emergency situations.

The goal of this project, developed as part of "Recreación, "was to recycle and redesign donated clothing and create new collections that convey the concept of reusing products as a way to protect the environment and raise public awareness of the value of secondhand or vintage clothing. "Reciclá" was an event that blended design, innovation, and creativity in fashion.

"Recreación" consisted of a public call for proposals issued by the School of Communication and Design aimed at institutions and companies. Its objective was for senior students to develop graphic, industrial, and apparel design projects tailored to each organization.
