The university's women's handball team won the Gold Cup undefeated championship at the women's beach handball tournament organized by the University Sports League. The tournament took place on March 17, 2012, at Arenas del Plata Stadium (Pocitos Beach).
The team, led by Mariana Fleitas, included Lorena Morán, Sofía Eirea, Carolina Rial, Ana Panuncio, Soledad Rodríguez, María Inés Terragno, Noelia Giannotti, Paula Mosera, and Jimena Cabrera.
