Conference: “Adapting Software Process Maturity/Capability Models to the Reality of Businesses”

March 23, 2012
On March 26, 2012, the Faculty of Engineering hosted the lecture “Adapting Software Process Maturity/Capability Models to the Reality of Businesses,” presented by Dr. Jean Carlo Rossa Hauck, Professor of Software Engineering at the University of Southern Santa Catarina (Brazil) and Researcher at GQS —the Software Quality Group at the National Institute of Science and Technology for Digital Convergence. It was aimed at software quality managers, software process managers, project managers, development managers, and operations managers at software companies.

The purpose of the conference was to present the current state of the art in the development of SPCMMs (software process capability and maturity models) and a method for customizing them, taking into account the evident evolution of several of these models—CMMI-DEV, MR-MPS, ISO/ IEC 15504-5, among others, and the need to adapt the processes used by software engineers to these models.

Dr. Rossa Hauck holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Vale do Itajaí and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Santa Catarina. He holds a Ph.D. in Knowledge Engineering from the same university. He is the Director of Software Quality at the Specto Group.

The lecture, delivered in Portuguese, was organized by the Department of Software Engineering of the School of Engineering.
