"Scratch Day" Presentation

On May 11, 2012, the Faculty of Engineering hosted the “Scratch Day” presentation, led by Dr. Inés Kereki, Professor of Programming at the Faculty of Engineering.

The event featured presentations by high school teachers on projects related to Scratch. Scratch is a programming language that allows users to create animations and games and helps them become familiar with the basics of programming. The event was organized by the School of Engineering and the Institute of Education.

“Scratch Day” is an event created by the Scratch team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with the aim of promoting the tool and sharing projects and experiences. The event takes place simultaneously in several countries. Building on the relationship established with MIT in previous years, the university organized this workshop in Uruguay.

Program:

1) Presentation: “The Ceibal-Mat Project and the Integration of New Technologies for Learning”
Mag. Gabriela Bernasconi, professor and tutor at the Institute of Education.
 
2) Presentation: "Teacher Training in Scratch"
Dr. Inés Kereki, Professor of Programming, Faculty of Engineering, ORT University of Uruguay.

3) Presentation: "Photography and Animation: Producing an Animation"
Prof. Daniel Fernández Cassina, Instructor of voice-over and photography workshops. Third-year student in the Visual Communication Teaching Program, Pando Teacher Training Institute.

4) Presentation: "Scratch-izing the Classroom"
Prof. Alicia Ronzoni, Mathematics Teacher, Liceo 3, Artigas.

5) Presentation: "One Step Further: Robotics with Scratch"
Mario Fontan, Laboratory Manager and IT Lab Maintenance Supervisor, Liceo Cooperativo It-Hué (Ciudad de la Costa), Teacher and IT Lab Manager, Liceo Colonia Nicolich.

6) Presentation "Enchanting"
