Schedule of workshops at the faculty:
May 9, 2012. Workshop 1 - “Images for Memory: Montevideo, a City Explored, ” led by Prof. Claudia Pilar García, Academic Coordinator of Social Communication at the Faculty of Communication and Language of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Colombia).
The speaker proposed experimenting with the creation of the urban imaginary based on an initial perception and appropriation of the city. She linked this to the idea of building emotional connections between the physical environment and human beings proposed by Japanese geographer Yi-Fu Tuan (“Topophilia: a study of environmental perception, attitudes, and values,” 1974), referring to his concept of topophilia.
Prof. García holds a Master’s degree in Communication from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. She holds a degree in Social Communication from the Universidad Externado de Colombia.
May 10, 2012. Workshop 6 - “Strategic Communication Applied to Change Management, ” led by Daniel Ottado, professor of Organizational Communication in the Bachelor of Communication Sciences program at the University of the Republic.
The objective of the workshop was to exchange experiences and reflections on different communication strategies that can contribute to the success of change management in organizations. Participants worked in groups based on proposed case studies.
Mr. Ottado completed a postgraduate program in Organizational Change and a Diploma in Organizational Communication at the Catholic University of Uruguay. He is the Head of Communications at AGESIC (Agency for E-Government and the Information Society).
May 11, 2012. Workshop 7— “Communication with a rights-based approach to children and adolescents. The Case of the ANDI Latin America Network: Analysis of a Comprehensive Experience, ” led by Paula Baleato and Alejandro Albarracín, representatives of the Voz y Vos Agency of the El Abrojo organization, Uruguay.
The workshop aimed to share the experience that a group of organizations in the fields of communication and children and adolescents has been carrying out since 2003 in 12 countries across the region, as members of the ANDI Latin America Network. This involves a media monitoring methodology integrated with strategies for evaluating social actors.
May 11, 2012. Workshop 10—Reading and Writing in the Workshop. “Pleasure, an inescapable ingredient,” led by Prof. Lucrecia Reta, professor and researcher at the National University of Comahue, Río Negro (Argentina).
The workshop invited participants to reflect on ways of reading and writing. It included readings of narratives that showcase the poetic function of language.
Prof. Reta is President of the Argentine Federation of Social Communication Programs.
