Lecture: “A Matter of State: The AMIA Bombing in the Media”

On July 25, 2012, ORT Pocitos hosted a lecture titled “A Matter of State: The AMIA Bombing in the Media,” presented by Jonathan Nakache, author of the book of the same title. The speaker analyzed the topics placed by the Argentine government on the print media’s agenda during the anniversary month of the attack on the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA), from 1994 to 2005. The event was organized by the Zionist Organization of Uruguay and the university’s Department of Jewish Studies.
Nakache holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Communication from the National University of La Matanza (Argentina). He was a member of the Press Department of the DAIA (Delegation of Argentine Jewish Associations). He published the texts “El encuentro” in the book “Escritura Joven” (Milá, Buenos Aires, 2002); “Todos los judíos” in the book “Qué es ser judío en Argentina” (Milá, Buenos Aires, 2005); and “La paradoja del Judío No Judío” in “Nuevas voces para una nueva tribu” (Milá, Buenos Aires, 2009).
