On July 30, 2012, the conference "Creation of an e-Portfolio System for the New Digital Era" was held at ORT Centro, presented by Dr. Paul Kim, Chief Technology Officer and Assistant Dean at the Stanford University School of Education. The speaker introduced a new approach to the design of e-portfolio systems (electronic or digital portfolios). The event was organized by the Institute of Education.

"The need for, use of, benefits of, and potential of e-portfolios have been analyzed and discussed by a significant body of researchers in the educational community. However, approaches to the development and implementation of e-portfolios to date have faced various challenges and limitations," the speaker states.

Dr. Kim met with students in the Doctor of Education program on July 30, 2012. On August 1, he met with the team from the project “The Ceibal Plan and the Practices of First-Year High School Math Teachers.”

The lecture was delivered in English with simultaneous translation into Spanish.
Dr. Kim works with numerous international organizations to develop mobile empowerment solutions for marginalized communities in developing countries. As part of his research, he explores mobile wireless sensors in a simulation based on e-portfolio learning and assessment. He advises investors and technology companies focused on e-learning, knowledge management, and mobile communication solutions.

He served as Chairman of the Board of the Intercultural Institute of California, Chief Information Officer at the University of Phoenix, and Vice President at Vatterott College.
