Lecture: “The Euro Crisis and the Lehman Brothers Collapse: Related or Unrelated?”

On August 21, 2012, the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences hosted a lecture titled “The Euro Crisis and the Lehman Brothers Crisis: Linked or Independent?” presented by Dr. Andrew Freris, Chief Investment Advisor for Asia at BNP Paribas Wealth Management in Hong Kong. The speaker analyzed the extent to which the Lehman Brothers crisis and the current Euro crisis are linked. The event was moderated by Isidoro Hodara, Ph.D., Professor of International Trade at the faculty. The event was organized by the Department of International Studies.

Dr. Freris has extensive experience in the international financial sector as well as in academia. He was a professor at London Metropolitan University ( 1968–1984) and Director of the Economics and Finance Department at City University of Hong Kong (1985–1990). In the financial sector, he has worked at various institutions worldwide, including Bank of America, GT Asia, and Salomon Brothers.

He is the author and co-author of various publications, including"The Financial Markets of Hong Kong" ( Routledge, 1991), "The Greek Economy in the Twentieth Century" (Croom Helm, 1986), and "The Soviet Industrial Enterprise: Theory and Practice" (Croom Helm, 1984).
