The goal of Webometrics is to promote publishing on academic websites, with the aim of increasing the transfer of scientific and cultural knowledge generated by universities to society.
Indicators considered:
PRESENCE (20%) - considers the total number of web pages hosted on the university’s main web domain, as obtained from the Google search engine. It takes into account all web pages, including formats individually recognized by Google, static and dynamic pages, and rich media files.
IMPACT (50%) - considers the quality of content by counting all incoming links received by the university’s web domain from third parties. These links reflect institutional prestige, academic performance, the value of the information, and the usefulness of the services, as assessed by millions of web editors worldwide.
OPENNESS (15%) - takes into account the total number of rich files (PDF, DOC, DOCX, PPT) published on websites, as indexed by the Google Scholar search engine.
EXCELLENCE (15%) - considers academic papers published in high-impact international journals that rank among the top 10% most cited in their respective scientific disciplines. The data provider is the SCImago Group.
