Lecture: “The Eichmann Trial: A Jewish Perspective”

On Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., the lecture “The Eichmann Trial: A Jewish Perspective” was held at ORT Pocitos (2633 España Blvd.) and presented by Gustavo Perednik, a visiting professor in the Department of Jewish Studies. This is the second lecture in the series marking the 50th anniversary of the trial of Nazi criminal Adolf Eichmann in Jerusalem. The speaker will discuss the Jewish people and Israel following this trial and the gradual rise in awareness regarding the Shoah. The event is organized by the Department of Jewish Studies.

Perednik is a visiting professor in the Department of Jewish Studies. He is a graduate of the University of Buenos Aires and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (cum laude), and completed his Ph.D. in Philosophy in New York. He studied the humanities at the Sorbonne (France), San Marcos (Peru), and Uppsala (Sweden). He was honored as an outstanding professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Among other works, he has published “Great Thinkers: Jews in Western Civilization” (2005), “Notable Thinkers: Jews in Western Civilization” (2006), “Famous Thinkers: Jews in Western Civilization” (2007), “Violin on Their Backs: Historical Crossroads of the Jewish People” (2009), and “The Homeland Was a Book: The Bible, Its Legacy, Its People, and Its Land Until 1880” (2010), published by Universidad ORT Uruguay.
