"Espacio ORT" at the “10th Punta del Este International Jewish Film Festival”

From February 2 to 6, 2013, the “10th Punta del Este International Jewish Film Festival” took place at the Conrad Hotel. As part of the festival, Universidad ORT Uruguay activities coordinated by the Department of Jewish Studies and the School of Communication and Design. The “ORT Space” featured short films produced by students from the faculty, a screening of the reel of winners from FIA’12 (2012 International Animation Festival), the continental premiere of the documentary “El Estigma,” directed and produced by Martí Sans, and a series of lectures by Dr. Alberto Spectorowski, Professor of Political Theory and Comparative Politics at Tel Aviv University, and Gustavo Perednik, Visiting Professor in the Department of Jewish Studies.


Schedule:

Sunday, February 3

- 6:30 p.m. - Screening of a selection of short films produced by students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication, with the directors and/or producers in attendance:
“Family Day” – Directed by student David Blankleider. Runtime: 13 min.
“Extracorpus” – Directed by student Bernardo Antonaccio. Runtime: 13 min.
- 9:00 p.m. – Lecture “50 Years Since the Trial and Execution of Adolf Eichmann in Jerusalem” by Dr. Perednik.

Monday, February 4
- 6:00 p.m. Faculty audiovisual production. Documentary: “Hospi” by Gerardo Castelli, Academic Coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication. ICAU Award – SYLICONE Paris – II WIP XIV FICPE 2011. Running time: 75 minutes.

Tuesday, February 5
- 5:45 p.m. - Screening of award-winning films from FIA’12 (International Animation Festival). Total duration: 18 min.

8:00 p.m. - Lecture “Israel: The Jewish State’s Present and Political Future” by Dr. Alberto Spectorowski, Professor of Political Theory and Comparative Politics at Tel Aviv University.
9:30 p.m. - Screening (continental premiere) of the documentary “The Stigma,” directed and produced by Martí Sans. Followed by a discussion with Dr. Perednik, who appeared in the film, and David Telias, Coordinator of the Department of Jewish Studies.

All activities at “Espacio ORT” are free and open to the public. University students have free access to all festival events upon presentation of their student ID.
