The works “Steady stool” and “Mesa bambooleg” by Timothy Goodman, and “Zipp” by Matías Lozano and Gabriel Soufer (Zinga collective), graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, were selected for the final round of “Salão Design Casa Brasil 2013,” Latin America’s largest product design competition, whose 17th edition will take place in August 2013.

This is an annual product design competition organized by the Bento Gonçalves Furniture Industry Union. It takes place in conjunction with the Casa Brasil and Movelsul Brasil trade shows. Its goal is to encourage creativity, entrepreneurship, and technological innovation through design, and to recognize the talent of students, professionals, and companies in the field through various awards.

The project “Steady stool” was selected in the professional category—bedroom furniture—and the “Bambooleg Table” and “Zipp” in the home office furniture category. Twenty-four projects were submitted from Uruguay, with nine selected.

Mr. Goodman’s “Justa” table received an Honorable Mention in the Student Division – Living Room Furniture Category at “Salão Design Movelsul 2012.” He also won first prize in 2011 in the Student Division – Residential Furniture Category at “Salão Design Casa Brasil 2011.”
