The startup PedidosYa was recognized at the IDB’s “Innovatic Awards”

 PedidosYa, a startup pre-incubated by the CIE (Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship), was recognized at the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB) “Innovatic Awards” in the category of “most innovative use of e-commerce.” The awards ceremony took place on April 4, 2013, at the Radisson Montevideo hotel. The event was held on the eve of the “IV Ministerial Conference on the Information Society in Latin America and the Caribbean,” organized by ECLAC (Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean) and AGESIC (Agency for E-Government and the Information Society).

Other award recipients included the Colón Free Zone Authority of the National Government of the Republic of Panama (in the “e-government” category); the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries, the Ministry of the Interior, and AGESIC, from Uruguay (in the “e-government” category); and the companies Publik (in the “most innovative use of broadband in business” category) and TEAM Ingeniería de Conocimiento (in the “most innovative use of social media for business” category), both from Colombia.

The winners were recognized for presenting innovative use cases of information and communication technologies (ICT) and broadband connectivity to boost productivity in institutions and companies across Latin America and the Caribbean.

PedidosYa, created by Ariel Burschtin, a graduate in Systems Engineering; Álvaro García, a graduate of the Bachelor’s in Systems program; and Ruben Sosenke, a graduate of the Information Technology Analyst program, is an online service that allows users to quickly find restaurants offering delivery and place orders via the Internet.
