Engineering students from Universidad ORT Uruguay the top 5% at the “ACM International Programming Contest”

The top two teams from the “13th ORT Programming Contest 2013,” held on September 24, 2013, at the School of Engineering, participated in the Regional Finals of the “ACM International Programming Contest,” which took place from November 8 to 10, 2013, in Buenos Aires.

With a total of 1,318 teams participating, the following results were obtained:

Team 1
Diego Cáceres, Systems Engineering student.
Germán Chiazzo, Systems Engineering student.
Ismael Rodríguez, Electronics Engineering student.
64th place - Top 4.85%

Team 2
Martín Copes, Systems Engineering student.
Martín Fernández, Systems Engineering student.
Andrés Pache, Systems Engineering student.
Rank 231 - Top 17.52%

Between September and November, the students received specialized training coordinated by Andrés de Sosa, Academic Coordinator of Computer Science at the School of Engineering.

Dr. Inés Kereki, Professor of Programming at the School of Engineering, served as one of the competition judges, and Marcelo Rubino, Associate Professor in the Programming Department, served as a coach.
