Students and teachers honored at the 2014 Salão Design Movelsul Brasil

The Ava lamp, designed by Diego Chiola, a student in the Bachelor of Industrial Design program, won first prize in February 2014 in the “Student Division – Lighting Category” at Salão Design Movelsul Brasil 2014, a Latin American product design competition. Likewise, the Frans bench by Andrés Espina and Nicolás Noblia, students in the same program, won first prize in the “Student Division – Outdoor Furniture Category.” The exhibition of the winning entries and the awards ceremony took place from March 24 to 28, 2014, at the Parque de Eventos in Bento Gonçalves, Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil).

For these projects, DI Alejandro Trinidad, instructor of Industrial Design 5 and Computer-Aided Design 1 in the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, and DI Pablo D’Angelo, instructor of Industrial Design 3 in the program, were recognized as faculty advisors.

The Ava lamp with shelf was developed in Industrial Design 5 – Innovation, during the seventh semester of the bachelor’s program (March–July 2013), under the guidance of DI Trinidad.

The Frans outdoor bench, featuring a planter and bicycle rack, is an independent project.
