Articles by faculty members were presented at the "3rd National Conference on Chemical Sciences"

Three papers authored by faculty members and researchers in biotechnology were presented at the "3rd National Conference on Chemical Sciences" (ENAQUI 3.0), which took place from November 4 to 6, 2013, in Montevideo. It was organized by the Faculty of Chemistry and the Program for the Development of Basic Sciences (PEDEClBA) at the University of the Republic.

The article “Rapid Detection of Native Strains of Bacillus thuringiensis for the Development of a Biopesticide” was authored by Dr. Lorena Betancor, Research Professor of Biotechnology in the School of Engineering; Mag. Carlos Sanguinetti, Academic Coordinator of Biotechnology; Dr. Ángela Cabezas, Professor of Project 2 Laboratory and Senior Project for the Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology; and Alfonso García Pintos, a student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of the Republic.

The article “Enzyme co-immobilized systems for the synthesis of α-ketoacids,” authored by Erienne Jackson, B.S., Research Assistant in the Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology program; Dr. Lorena Betancor, Dr. Fernando López-Gallego, and Prof. José Manuel Guisán, a researcher and research professor at the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), respectively.

The article “Design of a Chromatographic Method for the Purification of Clostridium perfringens Epsilon Toxin”was authored by Rodrigo Barreto, a student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology program; Mariana Ferrari, Coordinator of the Biotechnology Laboratory; Carlos Sanguinetti; Erienne Jackson; and Lorena Betancor.
