A faculty member received support from the Scientific Council of the PEDECIBA Chemistry program to complete an internship at Ruhr University Bochum

Erienne Jackson, a research assistant at the Biotechnology Laboratory of the School of Engineering, received funding in March 2014 from the Scientific Council of the Basic Sciences Development Program (PEDECIBA) in Chemistry to undertake a two-month internship at Ruhr University Bochum (Germany). The internship will take place in July and August 2014.

This visit is part of his graduate thesis in chemistry, titled “In vitro Use of Enzymatic Systems for the Synthesis of Molecules of Biotechnological Interest,” supervised by Dr. Lorena Betancor, a research professor in biotechnology.

He will be working in the group led by Prof. Frank Schulz, a professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Ruhr University Bochum.
