March 27, 2014
Inés Aguerrondo, a professor of Strategic Planning in Educational Management at the Institute of Education, and Dr. Denise Vaillant, Academic Secretary of the institute, presented the final report of the project “Study on Perspectives for Achieving Better Learning Opportunities for Children, Adolescents, and Youth in Latin America and the Caribbean,” carried out within the framework of the 2013 UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) Competitive Grant. The presentation took place on March 27 and 28, 2014, at UNESCO headquarters in Buenos Aires.

The project’s principal investigator is Dr. Vaillant. The team also includes Ms. Aguerrondo, María del Carmen Azpiroz, a doctoral student in education, and Dr. Sofía De Stefani, a faculty member in the Master’s in Education program.

The report aims to identify and analyze the paradigms that have shaped Latin American education systems and their implications for public policy and learning.

The study included a process of identifying and categorizing alternative approaches to improving learning opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean.

It required an exhaustive review of the literature and the use of data from studies and reports by authors specializing in the subject.
