Lecture: “Biblical Fiction: Good or Bad for Religion?”

On September 11, 2014, ORT Pocitos hosted a lecture titled “Biblical Fiction: Good or Bad for Religion?” presented by Rabbi Ben-Tzion Spitz, Chief Rabbi of the Kehilá – Israeli Community of Uruguay. The speaker discussed his latest book, “Joshua: Conqueror.”
Ben-Tzion Spitz was ordained as a rabbi by Rabbi David Ostroff of Har Nof, Jerusalem. He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Yeshiva University in NewYork. He also holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Columbia University. He studied Torah at Yeshiva University in NewYork , Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavne, and Yeshivat Har Etzion ( Israel). He is the author of the biblical fiction books: “Destiny’s Call. Book One – Genesis,” “Destiny’s Call. Book Two – Exodus,” and “Joshua Conqueror. Book One of the Boaz Trilogy.” He is the author of “Jewish Adventure in Modern China,” in which he recounts his travel memoirs.

The event was organized by the Department of Jewish Studies and the Israeli Community of Uruguay.
