September 19, 2014
Architecture students are participating in volunteer activities with community organizations in the “Tres Ombúes” neighborhood. As part of this initiative, they are carrying out construction projects this semester in conjunction with the course “Construction Methods 4/Architectural Practice.”

On September 8, 2014, the students, along with Architect Jorge Di Pólito, Academic Coordinator of Architecture, held a meeting with representatives of neighborhood associations to coordinate cooperative activities.

The organizations represented were: the Barrio Tres Ombúes Development Commission, the “Sonrisas” Civil Association, and the “Andares” Civil Association. The latter has main projects: “Botijas” (for children ages 6 to 12) and “Centro Juvenil Club del Sur” (for youth ages 13 to 17).

During the meeting, they conducted a needs assessment, which identified two main areas: design and organizational solutions for certain spaces in the neighborhood health clinic and the “Botijas” project headquarters, and the implementation of improvement works and provision of equipment in various sectors of the neighborhood.
