October 31, 2014
On October 16, 20, and 21, 2014, focus groups were held at the Institute of Education with students participating in the "Camino TICs" program, as part of the ACCEDES project. The Uruguayan team leading these groups consists of Dr. María Inés Vázquez, Academic Coordinator of Educational Management at the institute (national coordinator of ACCEDES); Andrea Tejera, M.A., professor and tutor in Educational Management; Carolina Guedes, B.A., Student Advisor at the School of Architecture; and Álvaro Casas, a graduate of the Diploma in Educational Planning and Management.

ACCEDES is a project funded by the European Union and coordinated by the Autonomous University of Barcelona. The Institute of Education participates in this project as a partner alongside twelve universities in Latin America. Its main objective is to improve access to, retention in, and graduation from higher education for vulnerable groups at risk of social exclusion in Latin America.

Camino TICs aims to reintegrate young people into a formal technical and vocational education system, enabling their social and labor market inclusion in one of the most dynamic sectors of the national economy: information and communication technologies (ICTs).

In the case of Uruguay, the purpose of these activities is to gather feedback from young people participating in this university-sponsored program, which aims to facilitate their access to technical studies.

The data collected will be analyzed with Enrique Topolansky, Coordinator of Camino TICs, and will help inform efforts to strengthen the program.
